Who Can Avail AB-PMJAY?

AB-PMJAY is designed for poor and vulnerable families identified through the Socio-Economic and Caste Census (SECC) database, covering millions of households across India.

There’s no restriction based on:

  • Family size
  • Age of family members
  • Gender

All members of an eligible family — from children to elderly — are covered. Pre-existing health conditions are included right from the first day itself.

What Does the Scheme Cover?

AB-PMJAY helps with comprehensive hospital care, including:

Hospitalisation Benefits

  • Medical treatment for secondary and tertiary care conditions.

  • Cashless admission and treatment in empanelled hospitals.
  • Around 1,900+ medical procedures covered.

 

Pre- and Post-Hospitalisation Care

  • Up to 3 days of pre-hospital costs — like diagnostic tests and medicines.

  • Up to 15 days of post-hospital care, including follow-up care and medications.

All Essential Treatment Costs Included

Under AB-PMJAY, the scheme covers costs such as:

  • Doctor’s fees & consultations
  • Diagnostic tests & lab investigations
  • Room charges & nursing care
  • ICU & OT charges
  • Medicines & medical consumables
  • Complications during treatment
  • Medical implants where required

Note: Some services like OPD care, cosmetic procedures, fertility treatments, and some organ transplants may not be included under the standard ₹5 lakh cover.
